Why a formulation with 5-MTHF folate?

5-MTHF folate is the most abundant folate present in the human body. It is found naturally in food, but is more easily absorbed from dietary supplements. MTHF folate is the most bioavailable folate found in dietary supplements. It can be used immediately by your body and does not need to be converted by the enzyme methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR). Up to 25 % of the population have a variant of the MTHFR gene (MTHFR 677TT) which significantly impairs their ability to metabolize folic acid. People with this MTHFR variation also run a higher risk of having a child with neural tube defects. Research is still preliminary, but people with the MTHFR 677TT variant are likely to benefit from MTHF folate supplementation rather than folic acid supplementation.

Should I take the pills at the same time?
